A sustainable connection between the promenade and the sea

In Egmond aan Zee, a new sustainable staircase has been built in the centre of the boulevard, allowing visitors to descend to the beach safely and comfortably. The old staircase was quite outdated, worn out and no longer met current safety requirements. Like the old staircase, the new staircase forms an important connection between the boulevard and the beach, and its robust, open design fits perfectly into the natural coastal environment.

The new staircase is slightly longer than the old one and has been moved forward, providing better protection for the dunes below. The extension of the upper platform has created more space to sit and enjoy the enchanting view of the beach and sea. Attractive seating areas have also been created on the staircase leading down to the beach.

What makes this staircase special

In the video, Ton tells us more about how this project came about: the choice of JettyDeck, the challenges of building in a coastal environment and the sustainable advantages of this solution. In addition to the technical aspects, the film also shows the daily use of the steps and the beautiful surroundings in which they are located.

The staircase in Egmond aan Zee is therefore not only a functional connection, but also an example of how design, sustainability and ease of use come together in a single, impressive piece of custom work featuring our Staco JettyDeck.

Solid applications that fit beautifully into the environment

The staircase is used intensively by walkers and beach visitors. Thanks to its open structure and non-slip finish, the construction remains safe and comfortable, even when barefoot, in rain or on wet sand. The JettyDeck solution also provides a low-maintenance, durable finish with a warm and natural look that blends in with the surroundings.

Unique project with high quality requirements

The entire staircase structure rests on a solid metal frame fitted with perforated JettyDeck panels. These panels are equipped with a unique inlay – a specially developed material consisting of bamboo fibres combined with composite. This combination not only offers a natural look, but also exceptional durability, anti-slip properties and weather resistance – essential for the harsh conditions at sea. In addition, JettyDeck is also very suitable for use by disabled people and our four-legged friends due to its flat properties and minimal depth.
