Cradle-to-Cradle

How do we contribute to a more sustainable world?

Becoming and staying sustainable is a road of trial and error. It starts with registering and being transparent about our organization in the chain. Staco is the first panel and grating manufacturer to be cradle-to-cradle certified. Cradle-to-cradle consists of five different components on which we are monitored and assessed.

We save on energy, waste as few raw materials as possible, use the right materials and chemicals. We also reuse materials, save on water usage and adhere to Social Fairness. Cradle-to-cradle is an important recognition of our sustainable business operations. By using Staco cradle-to-cradle panels, you too show that you are socially involved and contributing to a more sustainable world.

Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO)

What is VCDO and how does the Champion Phase fit in?

The VCDOis a support programme that helps companies integrate sustainability into their strategy and operations in a structured way. Each year, participating companies commit to at least ten actions linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After three years, companies can be recognised as VCDO laureates. This recognition confirms they are actively and measurably engaged in sustainability.

After five years, the emphasis shifts to transition: achieving lasting change both within the organisation (internal change management) and externally (stakeholder management). At this stage, companies carry out their actions solely within their core activities.

After six years in the VCDO trajectory, companies can take part in the Champion Phase. This phase goes beyond continuous improvement; it centres on implementing a transition project. Such a project must aim for structural and measurable impact in at least one of three domains: planet (ecology), people (social impact), or prosperity (governance).

A Champion project must go beyond compliance: it should be innovative for the company and, ideally, for the sector as well, with broad support across the organisation. KPIs, stakeholder involvement, and a clear link to the core business and priority SDGs are essential. Participation begins with a pitch to a mixed jury that decides whether the company can proceed.

The Champion Phase is the final stage of the VCDO journey and a stepping stone towards future-proof sustainability in line with the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) requirements.
