Pressed gratings for Nike walkways

Sporting Goods manufacturer Nike built a new distribution centre along the Albertkanaal in Ham last year - 2015 Nike's 'European Logistic Campus' grew by a third with this expansion. Staco Belgium took charge of the complete conveyor zone and walkways.

Commissioned by Batiment et Pont Construction (BPC Brabant) the assistance of Staco Belgium was requested for the production of at least 12.000m²  of walkway gratings. The walkways, which serve as a crossing between the offices and the warehouse space, were subdivided between several floors and fitted with large Staco pressed gratings spanning distances of up to 2000mm. The various conveyor zones were also fitted with the same sort of gratings. As this was a very large-scale project, the Staco pressed gratings were numbered and stacked up on pallets in sequence. Staco Belgium even worked out a complete laying plan to facilitate the positioning of the gratings.

The challenging part of this project was to produce more than 7,000 pressed gratings at relatively short notice. With a weekly production capacity of 3000m² Staco Belgium managed to complete the job within the required period of time. In order to be able to bear the loads - with spans of up to 2000mm - grating types RR 45-2 mesh width 33x33 were used. Cut-outs were provided where necessary.
