GRATING TECHNOLOGY

RAF Cold War Museum

RAF Cosford Cold War Exhibition building is a truly inspiring design. The building houses a wide array of aircraft from the cold war era but also has a large display of ground vehicles, missiles and exhibitions, educating present and future generations about this significant period of the 20th century.

Staco pressed gratings type RO were the perfect solution giving a low maintenance, light weight but most importantly keeping any visual impediments to a minimum. With such a large open space and so much to see it was important that the balustrades allowed you to view up through as well as down and across from the raised viewing area. In addition to the internal stair balustrade we also supplied Staco RR treads and landings to the external roof access staircase.

The architect required a grating that would fit in well with the complete look and feel of the building and various products/specifications were looked at initially. Staco pressed grating type RO was chosen for the balustrade and Staco pressed grating type RR for the external stairs. Fielden Clegg Bradley Architects won numerous awards for this project and Staco Gratings UK is proud to have had an association with this.
